BATTLEFIELD – BAD COMPANY 2 CAMPAIGN REVIEW
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a first-person shooter game of
the Battlefield franchise. This game was developed by a Swedish firm EA DICE
and it was published by Electronic Arts a.k.a. E.A. Battlefield: Bad Company 2
is the sequel of Battlefield: Bad Company. This game was released in March 2010
for PC and other gaming consoles.
The game is based on contemporary modern warfare. The player
is a part of a special army team. The player we control is named Preston Marlowe
which was also the protagonist of Battlefield: Bad Company. The storyline
resumes from the Battlefield: Bad Company. This game has Frostbite 1.5 engine.
In the multiplayer mode, there are multiple maps and five different game modes.
The game contains a wide variety of vehicles and aircraft.
BATTLEFIELD – BAD COMPANY 2 GAMEPLAY
The vehicles in the game include ATVs, APCs, tanks, and helicopters. The player can carry one primary weapon and a pistol in multiplayer mode and two primary weapons in single-player mode along with grenades and other equipment. Battlefield Bad Company 2 contains a destructible environment which means most of the buildings and structures can be destroyed using explosives or even gunshots. The game has to regenerate health policy instead of health points like other Battlefield games. Battlefield Bad Company 2 has the timeline of the near future in which there is a fictional second war between Russia and America a.k.a. Russo-American War. We play as the member of fictional Latin American Militia which is a rebel group that runs operations in South America.
In this game, we play as Preston Marlowe who is a member of
the Team “Bad Company”. There are many cut scenes which are shown very often. These
cutscenes resemble the style of war films. There are teammates in the game
who are controlled by A.I. but they don’t help much. The player has to
complete the objectives himself and kill most of the enemies to complete a
mission. This game has an interesting thing, the A.I. players don’t die but
they cannot complete any objectives. You have to complete the objectives to
move ahead.
Weapons in this game are also known as collectibles
therefore whenever the player picks up a new weapon, a message appears saying
collectibles unlocked. There are sensor stations throughout the campaign which
the player can search and destroy, and this action is recorded in the campaign stats.
There are Supply Drops throughout the game which allows the player to change
their loadout and refill their ammo.
BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2 STORYLINE.
The game begins in October 1944. A group of U.S. Commandos
was infiltrating an imperial Japanese Navy controlled island in the Sea of Japan.
The operation is called “Operation Aurora.” The commandos secure a Japanese scientist who was working on a secret weapon of mass destruction and escapes the
island on a submarine. Scientists warned them about the destruction that was
going to happen. The Commandos witnessed the firing of the weapon which
resulted in a huge tsunami. U.S. Army started to think that it was the work of
Japanese Navy.
A fight with the Russian Army and Tanks. |
Then the timeline shifts to the near future where Russia has
invaded Europe and Alaska while supporting China. China was fighting in Asia.
Privates Preston Marlowe, Terrence Sweetwater, George Haggard and Sergeant
Samuel Redford were fighting in Russia in an attempt to secure the scalar weapon
device. The team defeated Russian Soldiers and completed their mission
successfully but they find out that the device they discovered was fake. Since
the team did a remarkable job, Army General Braidwood appoints the squad in the
Special Activities Division and assign them a new mission. The mission was to
contact Agent James Wyatt (Aguire). This was a disappointment for Sergeant
Samuel Redford who was hoping to retire after the previous mission.
Private Marlowe going in search of a Scalar Weapon Device in a desert. |
The team goes to Bolivia to look for Agent. After many
gunfights, they were able to save Agent Aguire. He sends them to retrieve the
scalar technology intel from a French weather satellite that can be controlled
from a base in the Andes. Private Terrence Sweetwater successfully lands the
satellite and the squad defeats the Russians who were trying to destroy the
satellite. Private Marlowe (Us) locates the data server and starts descending
the mountain during a blizzard. On his way, he had to dodge Russian Patrols
while surviving the blizzard. By surviving the blizzard, I mean the player has
to protect himself from the blizzard by entering a closed house or by standing
near a fire to regain heat. Private Marlowe survives and the others extract him.
Mission in Snowy Mountains. |
During the extraction, Aguire tells them about a man who was
rebuilding the scalar weapon. His name was Arkady Kirilenko who was a Russian
Army colonel. The squad already encountered him in Russia. Kirilenko’s plan was
to use the scalar weapon to disable America’s Power grid which will make it
easier for the Russians to invade America. Kirilenko was believed to be hiding
in Chile. The squad goes to Chile along with U.S. forces to find Kirilenko who
manages to escape again. While reading Kirilenko’s papers, Private Terrence
Sweetwater finds that there is a shipping manifest for an abandoned ship called
the Sangre Del Toro. Private Marlowe finds the ship and retrieves an essential
to the use of the weapon. He also finds out the truth behind Operation Aurora –
The U.S. Military knew it was a suicide mission and the motive o the operation
was to learn more about the destructive power of the weapon.
The squad then goes to meet Aguire in Ecuador. Their chopper
gets shot down and they get separated. They regroup along with their pilot Flynn and escape the local militia. Sergeant Samuel Redford gives Aguire the essential
compound. The team finds out that Aguire betrayed them and teamed up with Kirilenko.
Aguire tells them that he wanted revenge from the United States for what happened
with his father, Thomas Wyatt. His father Thomas Wyatt was one of the commandos
of Operation Aurora who was killed by the Scalar Weapon in 1944. But
Kirilenko betrays Aguire and kills him (Betrayer gets betrayed). Kirilenko was
going to kill the squad but the helicopter pilot Flynn comes to rescue and saves
the squad but at cost of his life. I literally felt bad at this moment, Flynn
was a nice guy he didn’t deserve to die.
Helicopter mission. R.I.P. Flynn. |
The squad was sad about the death of Flynn and was mourning.
They hear Kirilenko talking to a guard through radio. Private Marlowe kills the
guard with a knife and the squad moves forward to the city Quito. There they
fight South American and Russian troops. Then they find a large cargo aircraft
An-225 which contained the Scalar Weapon. A powerful electromagnetic pulse is
suddenly released, from the aircraft which all the electronic equipment in the
city except the Aircraft. Private Terrence Sweetwater and Private George
Haggard loses all hope and suggests everyone abandon the mission. Private
Marlowe gets angry with his teammates on losing hope and decides to go on the
mission alone. Sergeant Samuel Redford stops him and then he convinces all the
teammates to continue on the mission. The squad proceeds and infiltrate the aircraft
as it takes off. After gunfights, the squad reaches the cockpit but the cockpit
was empty. They return to the cargo place and see that Kirilenko was activating
the Scalar Weapon. At this time, they were just above the southern United States.
Kirilenko and the Scalar Weapon was inside a bulletproof glass room. The squad
uses some explosives from the plane armory to get access to the room and
destroy the Scalar Weapon.
The explosion damages the plane and it begins to crash. The
squad was forced to get off the plane but Kirilenko grabs the last parachute before
Marlowe. Marlowe jumps without a parachute and he kills Kirilenko during the
freefall and then Private Sweetwater saves Marlowe by giving him the parachute.
The squad lands in Texas. General Braidwood arrives and informs them that they
are now appointed to help the U.S. Army fight against an incoming Russian Invasion
that was coming from Alaska. The squad gets disappointed that they didn’t even
get any time to rest and the game ends here.
BATTLEFIELD – BAD COMPANY 2 GRAPHICS
The game allows us to play in a wide range of locations, from snowy mountains to dense forests, from a fight in water to a fight in the sky. The detailing of the gorgeous locations is the first best thing which will impress you. The scenes look very realistic at many points in the game. Since the surroundings are destructible, the game looks more realistic during a gunfight.
CONCLUSION
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is one of the best games made by
the battlefield franchise. The graphics of the game is amazing and the gameplay
is very impressive and smooth. I didn’t face any glitches throughout the game.
The storyline is great and I personally liked it very much. There were no
loopholes in the storyline neither it was boring. Battlefield: Bad Company 2
was not famous for its single-player campaign instead it multiplayer gained
more attention. For me the single-player campaign was great. If you are a gamer
who loves FPS games with great storylines then this is the game for you. Moreover,
since this game is old, it runs on almost every PC with low specs without a dedicated
or integrated graphic card.
